Q: What is the difference between a work light and a flashlight?
A: i) In the image above, the broad, oval beam of the WorkStar™ 1200 work light illuminates a large area with an even pattern of light, while a flashlight produces a narrow, round beam of light. The work light is designed for close-in work, while a flashlight is designed to throw the beam as far as possible. Note: The same LED is mounted in both units. Distance from the wall is ½ meter, about 20 inches.
ii) Flashlights are handheld, while the WorkStar™ 1200 has magnets and a hook to hold it in place while you work and the body has a flat surface to prevent rolling.
iii) For other applications, like emergency lighting in a power failure condition, the WorkStar™ 1200 work light is capable of illuminating an entire room for about 5 hours, while a typical flashlight only lights up part of the room for an hour or so. Hint: with a car 12 volt dc to 110 volt AC, 75 watt power inverter you can recharge your WorkStar™ 1200 during the day, if there is an extended power outage, or if you are camping, etc.
