The rugged MAXXEON WorkStar® 524 Watergate is designed for daily A/C refrigerant dye leak detection by technicians in a demanding repair shop, manufacturing, industrial and maintenance environments. Powered by two CR123A lithium batteries, the WorkStar® 524 is completely self-contained, unlike traditional leak detection bulbs that are tethered to a 12v or 120v external power source. And, unlike fragile UV bulbs, the Watergate’s LED is virtually indestructible.

This 5" leak detector inspection light weighs only 5 ounces and it clips comfortably into any pocket - always at the ready! The tough T6 aluminum body is anodized in a bright shade of violet, so it is easily identified. Knurled surfaces provide good grip and they look great. Threaded joints have rubber O-ring seals so it is water resistant. The rugged tailcap switch is rated at 100,000 cycles and is sealed with a black rubber cap to avoid contamination by dirt and grit. Once the rear switch is activated, there is a handy secondary on/off switch at front of the body, which provides convenient control when hand-held.

How does the WorkStar® 524 compare with the WorkStar 224? The WorkStar® 524 has a beam that is about 3X wider and 4X more instense than the WorkStar® 224.

How does the WorkStar® 524 compare with the WorkStar® 523? The WorkStar® 523 radiates at 365 nm, while the WorkStar® 524 radiates at 395 nm. Passports and currency often use both wavelengths for security purposes and different features are highlighted with the different wavelengths. The fluorescent dyes for non-destructive inspection are activated by 365 nm UV light, while the fluorescent dyes for leak detection inspection are activated by 395 - 410 nm UV light. 365 nm LEDs are not as efficient as 400 nm LEDs so the output level of the WorkStar® 523 is about one third the output of the WorkStar® 524.

Wear 100% UVA blocking safety glasses when using the WorkStar® 524. Do not shine the light in anyone's eyes.
